REAR AIRBAG SENSOR (for TMC, TMMR Made) INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


  1. INSTALL SIDE NO. 2 AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Before connecting the connector, check that the position of the white housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.

    4. Insert the pin (stopper) into the body hole and install the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly to the vehicle body with the bolt.

      Torque:
      9.0 N*m  { 92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf }

      Note


      • If the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.

      • When installing the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with or is not pinched between other parts.

      • Make sure that the pin (stopper) is securely inserted into the body hole.

      • Tighten the bolt while holding the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly because the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly pin (stopper) is easily damaged.

    5. Connect the connector to the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly.

      Note

      When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.


      1. Be sure to engage the connectors until they are locked (when locking, make sure that a click sound can be heard).

        Tech Tips

        When engaged, the white housing lock will slide. Be sure not to hold the white housing lock or part (A), as it may result in an insecure fit.

    6. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly.

  2. INSTALL REAR SIDE SEATBACK ASSEMBLY (for Fold Down Seat Type)


    1. Place the rear side seatback assembly LH in the cabin.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

    2. Engage the hook to install the rear side seatback assembly LH with the bolt.

      Torque:
      18 N*m  { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }
    3. Connect the rear seat outer belt assembly to the rear seat shoulder belt guide LH.

  3. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION LOCK HOOK (for Fold Down Seat Type)


    1. B000HKU

      Engage the 2 claws to install a new rear seat cushion lock hook as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Rear seat cushion lock hooks must not be reused.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  4. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY (for Fold Down Seat Type)


    1. Place the rear seat cushion assembly in the cabin.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

    2. w/ Seat Heater System:


      1. Engage the 2 clamps.

      2. Connect the connector.

    3. B000LR0

      Engage the 2 hooks of the rear seat cushion assembly to the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

    4. Confirm that the rear seat cushion assembly is firmly installed.

      Note

      When installing the rear seat cushion assembly, make sure that the seat belt buckles are not under the rear seat cushion assembly.

  5. INSTALL REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH (for Reclining Seat Type)


    1. Engage the guide, claw and 2 clips.

    2. Install the rear seat side garnish LH with the bolt.

      Torque:
      18 N*m  { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }
  6. INSTALL REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP (for Reclining Seat Type)

  7. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE (for Reclining Seat Type)


    1. Engage the 6 claws to install the rear door scuff plate LH.

      Tech Tips

      Engage the claws from the rear side of the scuff plate.

  8. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY (for Reclining Seat Type)


    1. Place the rear seatback assembly LH in the cabin.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

    2. Install the rear seatback assembly LH with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      18 N*m  { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }
    3. Engage the 2 hooks to install the cover.

    4. Connect the 2 rear seat belts to the 2 rear seat shoulder belt guides.

    5. w/ Rear Seat Side Airbag:


      1. Connect each connector and clamp to the child restraint anchor bracket sub-assembly LH.

  9. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK COVER (for Reclining Seat Type)


    1. Engage the 4 claws to install the 2 rear seatback covers.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  10. INSTALL REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY (for Reclining Seat Type)

  11. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION LOCK HOOK (for Reclining Seat Type)


    1. B000HKU

      Engage the 2 claws to install a new rear seat cushion lock hook as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Rear seat cushion lock hooks must not be reused.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  12. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY (for Reclining Seat Type)


    1. Place the rear seat cushion assembly in the cabin.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

    2. Pass the 2 rear seat inner belt assemblies through the rear seat cushion assembly.

    3. Connect the 2 seat heater connectors.

      Engage the 2 rear seat cushion frame hooks on the front side of the rear seat cushion assembly to the 2 rear seat cushion lock hooks as shown in the illustration.

    5. Confirm that the rear seat cushion assembly is securely installed.

      Note

      When installing the rear seat cushion assembly, make sure that the seat belt buckles are not under the rear seat cushion assembly.

  13. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  14. PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK
