DESCRIPTION

B279A The communication line (IMI - EFIO) between the ECM and ID code box (immobiliser code ECU)*1 or certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)*2 is stuck high (1 trip detection logic*3).

  • Wire harness or connector (disconnection or break in wire harness is main cause)

  • ID code box (immobiliser code ECU)*1

  • Certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)*2

  • ECM

 Turn the engine switch on (IG) and wait 6 seconds.

  • When replacing the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)*1 or ID code box (immobiliser code ECU)*2, refer to Service Bulletin.

  • After performing repairs, perform the operation that fulfills the DTC output confirmation operation, and then confirm that no DTCs are output again.


Tech Tips

When DTC B279A*1 or B279A12*2 and the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) DTC are output simultaneously, first perform troubleshooting for the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) DTC.

  1. CLEAR DTC


    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.


    NEXT

  2. CHECK FOR DTC


    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and wait 10 seconds.

    2. Check for DTCs Click here.

      If DTCs other than DTC B279A*1 or B279A12*2 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

  3. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the ECM and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ID CODE BOX (IMMOBILISER CODE ECU)*1 OR CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY)*2 - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the I20 ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) connector.*1

    2. Disconnect the A43 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.*2

    3. Disconnect the A25*3 or A84*4 ECM connector.


      • *1: w/ Entry Function on Driver Door except TMMK Made

      • *2: w/o Entry Function on Driver Door or for TMMK Made

      • *3: for 2GR-FE or 2AR-FE

      • *4: for 6AR-FSE

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
