ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM (w/ Smart Entry and Start System) PRECAUTION


  1. PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following system after the cable is reconnected.

  2. PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING INTELLIGENT TESTER


    1. When using the intelligent tester with the engine switch off to troubleshoot: Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3, and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at 1.5 second or less intervals until communication between the intelligent tester and vehicle begins.

    2. After all DTCs are cleared, check if the trouble occurs again 6 seconds after turning the engine switch on (IG).

  3. PRECAUTION FOR REGISTRATION


    1. If replacing any of the following parts, refer to the Service Bulletin.

      Note

      Any keys or ECUs for which registration has been performed cannot be reused.


      1. Certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)

      2. ID code box (immobiliser code ECU)*

      3. Steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly)

      4. Electrical key transmitter sub-assembly

    2. After replacing the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly), confirm the lock/unlock operation of the steering lock.

      Unlocks Turn the engine switch from off to on (ACC) or on (IG).
  4. PRECAUTIONS FOR BATTERY


    1. Immediately after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery cable, the entry unlock function may not operate. If this occurs, the entry unlock function can be restored by performing a wireless door lock and unlock operation.

    2. When the battery is discharged, if the battery of another vehicle is used to jump start the engine, move the shift lever to P and open and close the driver door with the engine switch off before starting the engine.

    3. After the battery is removed and reinstalled, be sure to wait 10 seconds or more before the next engine start. The engine may not start immediately after the battery is reinstalled.

      Tech Tips


      • After disconnecting and reconnecting the battery cable, the engine may not start on the first attempt. If this occurs, turn the engine switch off. The engine will start normally from the second time onward.

      • When the battery cable is disconnected and reconnected, the power source mode returns to the mode it was in before the battery cable was disconnected.
