ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM (w/ Smart Entry and Start System) DTC CHECK / CLEAR

Tech Tips


  • When using the intelligent tester with the engine switch off to troubleshoot: Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3 and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at 1.5 second or less intervals until communication between the intelligent tester and vehicle begins.

  • Refer to the intelligent tester operator's manual for further details.


  1. CHECK FOR CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) DTC


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body / Entry & Start / DTC.

    5. Check for DTCs.

  2. CHECK FOR ECM DTC (for 2GR-FE or 2AR-FE)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

    5. Check for DTCs.

  3. CHECK FOR ECM DTC (for 6AR-FSE)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

    5. Check for DTCs.

  4. CLEAR CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) DTC


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body / Entry & Start / DTC.

    5. Clear the DTCs.

  5. CLEAR ECM DTC (for 2GR-FE or 2AR-FE)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

    5. Clear the DTCs.

  6. CLEAR FOR ECM DTC (for 6AR-FSE)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

    5. Check for DTCs.
