PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY (for TMC, TMMR Made) DISASSEMBLY

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.


  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  2. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt and separate the rear flexible hose from the rear shock absorber assembly.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.

      Note

      Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the rear disc brake caliper assembly from hanging down by the rear flexible hose.

  3. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG

  4. REMOVE REAR DISC

      Put matchmarks on the rear disc and the rear axle hub.

      Release the parking brake and remove the rear disc.

      Tech Tips

      If the disc cannot be removed easily, use a screwdriver to turn the shoe adjuster as shown in the illustration in order to contract the parking brake shoes.

  5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for Upper Side)


    1. for Rear Side:

        Remove the parking brake shoe return tension spring.

    2. for Front Side:

        Remove the parking brake shoe return tension spring.

  6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT

      Pull the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly towards the front of the vehicle by hand as shown in the illustration.

    2. B000KIL

      Remove the parking brake shoe strut.

  7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT COMPRESSION SPRING

      Remove the parking brake shoe strut compression spring.

  8. SEPARATE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY

      Release the claw of the parking brake shoe hold down spring cup and separate the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly.

  9. SEPARATE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY

      Release the claw of the parking brake shoe hold down spring cup and separate the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.

  10. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET

      Expand the No. 1 and No. 2 parking brake shoe assemblies outward by hand and pull downward to separate them from the parking brake plate.

    2. B000KVW

      Remove the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set.

  11. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly.

  12. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for Lower Side)

      Remove the parking brake shoe return tension spring.

  13. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER

      Using needle-nose pliers, separate the parking brake shoe lever from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  14. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER

      Using a screwdriver, remove the parking brake shoe type C washer, parking brake shoe shim and the parking brake shoe lever.

      Tech Tips

      Parking brake shoe shims are provided when necessary to adjust the clearance between the parking brake shoe lever and parking brake shoe type C washer. Some vehicles may not be equipped with shims.

  15. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN SPRING PIN


    1. for Front Side:

        Remove the 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring cups, parking brake shoe hold down spring and parking brake shoe hold down spring pin.

    2. for Rear Side:


      1. B000MSJ

        Remove the 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring cups, parking brake shoe hold down spring and parking brake shoe hold down spring pin.

  16. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE GUIDE PLATE

      Remove the parking brake shoe guide plate set bolt and the parking brake shoe guide plate.
