CANISTER (for TMC, TMMR Made) INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY


    1. Visually check the charcoal canister.


      1. Visually check the charcoal canister for cracks or damage.

        Tech Tips

        If cracks or damage are found, replace the charcoal canister assembly.

    2. Check charcoal canister airflow.

        Using a vacuum pump, check that air flows through the canister according to the instructions below.

        Standard
        Measurement Condition Specified Condition
        Block port B and C and apply 2 kPa (15 mmHg, 0.591 in.Hg) of vacuum into port A. There are no leaks.
        Block port C and apply 2 kPa (15 mmHg, 0.591 in.Hg) of vacuum into port A. Air is sucked into port B.

        Block port C and blow 5 kPa (0.1 kgf/cm2, 0.7 psi) of air into port A.

        Air comes out of port B.

        Blow 5 kPa (0.1 kgf/cm2, 0.7 psi) of air into port A.

        Air comes out of port B and C.

        Tech Tips

        If the standard is not as specified, replace the charcoal canister assembly.

  2. CLEAN FILTER IN CANISTER

      Clean the filter by blowing 5 kPa (0.1 kgf/cm2, 0.7 psi) of compressed air into port A while holding port B closed.

      Note


      • Make sure to clean the filter using only air, do not use gasoline or any other means.

      • Do not disassemble the charcoal canister assembly.
