OIL PUMP DISASSEMBLY


  1. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY


    1. B000L9O

      Turn the front oil pump drive gear with 2 screwdrivers and check that it rotates smoothly.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the front oil pump oil seal lip.

  2. REMOVE STATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 16 bolts and stator shaft assembly from the front oil pump and gear body sub-assembly.

      Note

      Do not drop the front oil pump drive gear and front oil pump driven gear.

  3. INSPECT CLEARANCE OF FRONT OIL PUMP AND GEAR BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Inspect the body clearance.


      1. B000N33

        Push the front oil pump driven gear to one side of the front oil pump body sub-assembly.

      2. Using a feeler gauge, measure the body clearance.

        Standard Clearance
        0.12 to 0.17 mm (0.00472 to 0.00669 in.)
        Maximum Clearance
        0.17 mm (0.00669 in.)

        If the clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear or front oil pump body sub-assembly.

    2. Inspect the side clearance.


      1. B000MYA

        Using a straightedge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.

        Standard Side Clearance
        0.035 to 0.05 mm (0.00138 to 0.00197 in.)
        Maximum Side Clearance
        0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)

        If the clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear or front oil pump body sub-assembly.

        Tech Tips

        There are 4 front oil pump drive gears and front oil pump driven gears of different thicknesses.

  4. REMOVE FRONT OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR


    1. B000LT6

      Remove the front oil pump drive gear from the front oil pump body sub-assembly.

  5. REMOVE FRONT OIL PUMP DRIVEN GEAR


    1. B000KOU

      Remove the front oil pump driven gear from the front oil pump body sub-assembly.

  6. REMOVE FRONT OIL PUMP BODY O-RING


    1. B000H3Z

      Remove the front oil pump body O-ring from the front oil pump body sub-assembly.

  7. REMOVE FRONT OIL PUMP OIL SEAL


    1. B000MG0E01

      Secure the front oil pump body sub-assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

    2. Using SST, remove the front oil pump oil seal from the front oil pump body sub-assembly.
