TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

    Note

    Before installing the transmission control cable assembly, check that the park/neutral position switch assembly and the shift lever are in neutral.


    1. Pass the transmission control cable assembly from the cabin to the engine compartment.

    2. Install the transmission control cable assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf }
    3. Install the dash panel insulator to its original position.

    4. Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket with a new clip.

    5. Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the transmission control shaft lever with the nut.

      Torque:
      13 N*m  { 133 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Before connecting the transmission control cable assembly, check that the park/neutral position switch assembly and the shift lever are in neutral.

    6. Engage the clamp to connect the engine wire to the automatic transaxle assembly.

    7. Install the nut to the wire harness clamp bracket.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

      Slide the slider of the transmission control cable assembly as shown in the illustration and pull the lock piece outward.

    9. Engage the 2 claws to connect the transmission control cable assembly to the lower shift lever assembly.

      Connect the end of the transmission control cable assembly to the lower shift lever assembly.

      Note


      • Check that the lock piece is pulled out.

      • Push the end of the transmission control cable assembly all the way to the base of the lower shift lever assembly pin.

    11. Push the lock piece into the adjuster case.

      Note


      • Check that the park/neutral position switch assembly and the shift lever are in neutral.

      • Securely push in the lock piece until the slider lock is engaged.

  2. CONNECT NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly to the vehicle body with the bolt and nut.

      Torque:
      Bolt
      15 N*m  { 153 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }
      Nut
      5.4 N*m  { 55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf }
    2. Install the floor carpet to its original position.

  3. INSTALL ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY

  4. INSTALL AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

  5. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. INSTALL AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY

  7. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE


    1. Connect the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose to the throttle body with motor assembly.

    2. Install the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose with the 2 guides and 2 air cleaner cap clamps.

    3. Tighten the hose clamp.

    4. Connect the union to connector tube hose to the air cleaner hose sub-assembly.

    5. Engage the wire harness clamp.

    6. Connect the mass air flow meter sub-assembly connector.

    7. Engage the ventilation hose clamp.

    8. Connect the ventilation hose to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly and slide the clip to secure it.

  8. INSTALL INLET AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY

  9. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL

  10. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  11. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION


    1. When the shift lever is moved from P to R with the engine switch ON and brake pedal depressed, make sure that the shift lever moves smoothly and correctly to P.

    2. Start the engine and check that the vehicle moves forward when the shift lever is moved from N to D and moves rearward when the shift lever is moved to R.
