AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT-LIGHTING SYSTEM) Back-up Light Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly) detects the state of the back-up light.

Note

If the AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly) has been replaced, it is necessary to synchronize the vehicle information and initialize the AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly).

Tech Tips

The following procedure is for vehicles equipped with a manual transaxle or multi-mode manual transaxle.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK OPERATION (BACK-UP LIGHT)


    1. Check the operation of the back-up light.

      OK
      The back-up light operates normally.
      Result
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    NG

    GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM (PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE) Click here

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / AFS / Data List.

    5. Read the display on the GTS.


      Body Electrical > AFS > Data List
      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Traveling Direction Traveling Direction Not Fwd or Fwd

      Fwd: Shift lever not in R or N*1

      Not Fwd: Shift lever in R or N*1

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - AFS ECU (HEADLIGHT SWIVEL ECU ASSEMBLY))


    1. for Multi-mode Manual Transaxle


      1. Disconnect the A102 back-up light switch assembly connector.

      2. Disconnect the A93 AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly) connector.

      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A93-6 (RSW) - A102-1 (RL) Always Below 1 Ω
      A93-6 (RSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    2. for Manual Transaxle


      1. Disconnect the B38 back-up light switch assembly connector.

      2. Disconnect the A93 AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly) connector.

      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A93-6 (RSW) - B38-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      A93-6 (RSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Result
      Proceed to
