Make sure to perform initialization after replacing the headlight leveling ECU assembly.
Initialize the headlight leveling ECU assembly after the vehicle height has changed due to replacement of suspension components or after performing operations such as removal and reinstallation or replacement of the rear height control sensor sub-assembly.
Adjust the headlight aim after initializing the headlight leveling ECU assembly.
When a malfunction is detected in the automatic headlight beam level control system, headlight leveling ECU assembly initialization is impossible. Perform troubleshooting before initialization.
SYNCHRONIZE VEHICLE INFORMATION (for Multi-information Display (Segment LCD Type))
When using the GTS:
Turn the ignition switch off.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and check that the headlight leveling warning light in the combination meter assembly flashes at 0.5 Hz.
Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / HL AutoLeveling / Utility / ECU Information Sync.

Check the display on the GTS and press "Next".
Check that the headlight leveling warning light on the combination meter assembly flashes 6 times at 2 Hz.
Press "Exit" and turn the ignition switch off.
Note
After synchronizing the vehicle information, make sure to initialize the headlight leveling ECU assembly.
When not using the GTS:
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and check that the headlight leveling warning light in the combination meter assembly flashes at 0.5 Hz.
Using the light control switch, turn the low beam headlights on and off 8 times within 20 seconds after turning the ignition switch to ON.
Note
Turn the low beam headlights on and off at less than 2-second intervals.
Tech Tips
If this step cannot be completed within 20 seconds, turn the ignition switch off. Then, turn the ignition switch to ON and restart the procedure.
Check that the headlight leveling warning light on the combination meter assembly flashes 6 times at 2 Hz.
Turn the ignition switch off.

HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE (for Multi-information Display (Segment LCD Type))
Prepare the vehicle for initialization.
Unload the vehicle, ensuring that the spare tire, tools and jack are in their original positions.
Check that there are no occupants in the vehicle.
Turn the headlights off.
Stop the vehicle on a level surface and keep the vehicle height unchanged.
Check the headlight leveling warning light.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and check the headlight leveling warning light.
Tech Tips
If the warning light does not come on when the ignition switch is turned to ON, perform troubleshooting according to Problem Symptoms Table.
Perform initialization.
