WASHER MOTOR(for Hatchback, Wagon) INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Wiper)

   
   
   1. 

      *a	Component without harness connected (Windshield Washer Motor and Pump Assembly)

      for Front Washer:

      
      

      1. Remove the washer jar.

      2. Disconnect the windshield washer motor and pump assembly connector.

         Tech Tips

         This check should be performed with the windshield washer motor and pump assembly installed on the washer jar.

      3. Fill the washer jar with washer fluid.

      4. Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 1 of the windshield washer motor and pump assembly, and a negative (-) lead to terminal 2.

      5. Check that washer fluid flows from the washer jar.

         OK
         Washer fluid flows from the washer jar.

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield washer motor and pump assembly.

   2. 

      *a	Component without harness connected (Windshield Washer Motor and Pump Assembly)

      for Rear Washer:

      
      

      1. Remove the washer jar.

      2. Disconnect the windshield washer motor and pump assembly connector.

         Tech Tips

         This check should be performed with the windshield washer motor and pump assembly installed on the washer jar.

      3. Fill the washer jar with washer fluid.

      4. Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 2 of the windshield washer motor and pump assembly, and a negative (-) lead to terminal 1.

      5. Check that washer fluid flows from the washer jar.

         OK
         Washer fluid flows from the washer jar.

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield washer motor and pump assembly.

2. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY (w/o Rear Wiper)

   
   

   1. Remove the washer jar.

   2. Disconnect the windshield washer motor and pump assembly connector.

      Tech Tips

      This check should be performed with the windshield washer motor and pump assembly installed on the washer jar.

   3. Fill the washer jar with washer fluid.

   4. 

      *a	Component without harness connected (Windshield Washer Motor and Pump Assembly)

   5. Check that washer fluid flows from the washer jar.
