REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Wiper)
REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY
REMOVE BACK DOOR PANEL NO. 2 PROTECTOR (w/ Back Door Panel Protector)
REMOVE BACK DOOR PANEL NO. 1 PROTECTOR (w/ Back Door Panel Protector)
Tech Tips
Use the same procedure as for the back door panel No. 2 protector.
REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY
Disconnect the 2 window defogger connectors.

Protective Tape |
Apply protective tape to the area around the installation position of the back door glass sub-assembly on the back door panel to prevent it from being scratched.

Apply protective tape to the back door panel to prevent it from being scratched.

Place matchmarks on the back door glass sub-assembly and back door panel on the locations indicated in the illustration.
Tech Tips
Matchmarks are not necessary if the back door glass is not going to be reused.

Pass a piano wire between the back door panel and back door glass sub-assembly from the interior.
Note
Do not pull the piano wire in a vertical direction, but pull it in a horizontal direction.
Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects that can serve as handles.
Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back door glass.
Note
When separating the back door glass, take care not to damage the paint or interior and exterior ornaments.
Using suction cups, disengage the No. 1 and No. 2 back window glass spacers and remove the back door glass sub-assembly.
Note
To prevent the back door glass sub-assembly from falling when performing this operation, be sure to hold the back door glass sub-assembly using suction cups.
Be careful not to drop the back door glass sub-assembly.
Leave as much adhesive on the back door panel as possible when removing the back door glass sub-assembly.
REMOVE BACK DOOR WINDOW MOULDING
When reusing the back door glass:

Using a scraper, remove the back door window moulding.
Note
Be careful not to damage the back door glass.
Be sure to replace the back door window moulding with a new one.
REMOVE LOWER BACK WINDOW MOULDING
When reusing the back door glass:

Using a scraper, remove the lower back window moulding.
Note
Be careful not to damage the back door glass.
Be sure to replace the lower back window moulding with a new one.
REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER
When reusing the back door glass:

Using a scraper, remove the No. 1 back window glass spacer.
Note
Be careful not to damage the back door glass.
Be sure to replace the No. 1 back window glass spacer with a new one.
REMOVE NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER
Note
Use the same procedure as for the No. 1 back window glass spacer.
CLEAN BACK DOOR GLASS
Using a scraper, remove any remaining adhesive residue from the back door glass.
Note
Be careful not to damage the back door glass.
Clean the outer circumference of the back door glass with a non-residue solvent.
Note
Do not touch the glass surface after cleaning it.
Be careful not to damage the back door glass.
Even if using new glass, clean it with a non-residue solvent.
CLEAN BACK DOOR PANEL

Clean and shape the contact surfaces of the back door panel.

Using a knife, cut away any rough adhesive on the contact surfaces of the back door panel as shown in the illustration.
Note
Be careful not to damage the back door panel.
Tech Tips
Leave as much adhesive on the back door panel as possible.
Clean the contact surfaces of the back door panel with a piece of cloth saturated with non-residue solvent.
Tech Tips
Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the back door panel.
