DESCRIPTION

The No. 1 ultrasonic sensor (rear corner RH) is installed on the rear bumper. The ECU detects obstacles based on signals received from the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor (rear corner RH). If the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor (rear corner RH) has an open circuit or other malfunction, it will not function normally.

Note


  • If DTCs are output after repairs, turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the TOYOTA parking assist-sensor system on. Then clear the DTCs.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CLEARANCE WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY - NO. 1 ULTRASONIC SENSOR (REAR CORNER RH))


    1. Disconnect the E98 clearance warning ECU assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the R5 No. 1 ultrasonic sensor (rear corner RH) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E98-1 (E1) - R5-1 (EI) Always Below 1 Ω
      E98-4 (BOR) - R5-3 (BI) Always Below 1 Ω
      E98-3 (S1) - R5-2 (SI) Always Below 1 Ω
      E98-1 (E1) - E98-3 (S1) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E98-4 (BOR) - E98-3 (S1) Always 10 kΩ or higher

  2. REPLACE NO. 1 ULTRASONIC SENSOR (REAR CORNER RH)


    1. Replace the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor (rear corner RH) with a known good one.

      Tech Tips

      All of the sensors are interchangeable. To confirm whether a sensor is functioning normally, switch it with a known good sensor from the other end of the vehicle.
