STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

w/ VSC:

  • Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the ignition switch ON.

  • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel with the battery connected and the ignition switch ON.

  • Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.

PROCEDURE


  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

      *a Matchmark

      Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    2. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

    3. Disconnect each connector from the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      *a Turn
      *b Hold

      Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      09950-50013   ( 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05070 )

      Note

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER (for CVT)

        Remove the 2 screws and steering shake damper from steering wheel sub-assembly.

  6. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH (w/ Cruise Control System)

  7. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE (w/ Cruise Control System)


    1. Remove the cruise control switch wire.

  8. REMOVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Shift Paddle Switch)

      Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Disengage the 2 guides to remove the 2 transmission shift switch assemblies with No. 1 switch wire from the steering wheel sub-assembly.

  9. REMOVE LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER

      Disengage the 4 pins and 2 claws to remove the lower steering wheel boss cover from the steering wheel sub-assembly.
