FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM(for RH Side) INSTALLATION

Tech Tips

For models with a 1WW or 1ND-TV engine, the front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly RH can be installed without removing the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (except 1WW, 1ND-TV)

  2. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (for 1WW, 1ND-TV)


    1. Temporarily install the front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly RH to the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and nut.

      Note

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Tighten the bolt with the nut secured.

  3. CONNECT FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (for 1WW, 1ND-TV)


    1. Connect the front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly RH to the front lower ball joint assembly with the bolt and 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      89 N*m  { 908 kgf*cm, 66 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not damage the boot of the ball joint.

  4. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }
  5. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

  6. FULLY TIGHTEN FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (except 8NR-FTS)

      A01TBGJ Turn

      Using SST, fully tighten the bolt (A).

      SST
      09961-01270
      Torque:
      Specified tightening torque
      233 N*m  { 2376 kgf*cm, 172 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to the torque wrench.

      Tech Tips


      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

      • When using SST (fulcrum length of 200 mm (7.87 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 425 mm (1.39 ft.)):

        158 N*m (1611 kgf*cm, 117 ft.*lbf)

    2. Fully tighten the bolt (B).

      Torque:
      214 N*m  { 2182 kgf*cm, 158 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Tighten the bolt with the nut secured.

  7. FULLY TIGHTEN FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (for 8NR-FTS)

      *a Ball joint Lock Nut Wrench
      *b Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length
      A01TBGJ Turn

      Using a ball joint lock nut wrench, fully tighten the bolt (A).

      Torque:
      Specified tightening torque
      233 N*m  { 2376 kgf*cm, 172 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      This torque value is effective when ball joint lock nut wrench is parallel to the torque wrench.

      Tech Tips


      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

      • When using ball joint lock nut wrench (fulcrum length of 150 mm (5.91 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 425 mm (1.39 ft.)):

        172.2 N*m (1756 kgf*cm, 127 ft.*lbf)

    2. Fully tighten the bolt (B).

      Torque:
      214 N*m  { 2182 kgf*cm, 158 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Tighten the bolt with the nut secured.

  8. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (for Full Cover Type)

  9. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
