CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE SYSTEM(for 1ZR-FAE) DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

  1. DATA LIST

    Note

In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.

    Tech Tips

Using the GTS to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.

    1. Warm up the engine.

    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    3. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    5. Turn the GTS on.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.

      Tech Tips

      • To display the list box, press the pull down menu button next to Primary. Then select a measurement group.

      • When selecting a measurement group, the ECM data belonging to that group is displayed.

    7. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Data List
Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Vehicle Speed Vehicle speed

      Min.: 0 km/h (0 mph)

      Max.: 255 km/h (158 mph)

      Actual vehicle speed
      • This is the current vehicle speed.

      • The vehicle speed is detected using the wheel speed sensors.

      • Vehicle speed data is delayed when it is displayed. Therefore, even if the vehicle speed listed in the freeze frame data is 0 km/h (0 mph), this does not always mean that the malfunction occurred when the vehicle was stopped.

      Engine Speed Engine speed

      Min.: 0 rpm

      Max.: 16383 rpm

680 to 780 rpm: Idling When the crankshaft position sensor is malfunctioning, "Engine Speed" is approximately 0 rpm or varies greatly from the actual engine speed.
MAF Airflow rate from mass air flow meter sub-assembly

      Min.: 0 gm/sec.

      Max.: 655.35 gm/sec.

      • 1.0 to 3.0 gm/sec: Idling

      • 3.0 to 8.0 gm/sec: 3000 rpm (without load)

This is the intake air amount detected by the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.
      MAP Intake manifold pressure

      Min.: 0 kPa (0 mmHg)

      Max.: 255 kPa (1912 mmHg)

      80 to 110 kPa(abs) [600 to 825 mmHg(abs)]: Ignition switch ON

      20 to 40 kPa(abs) [150 to 300 mmHg(abs)]: Idling

This is the intake manifold pressure.

      Tech Tips

      • When the ignition switch is ON, the manifold absolute pressure and atmospheric pressure are approximately the same (standard atmospheric pressure = 101 kPa(abs) [758 mmHg(abs)]).

      • MAP is almost the same as Atmospheric Pressure when the engine is stopped, these items can be used to help determine if the manifold absolute pressure sensor characteristics are abnormal, if there is noise, or if the sensor output is stuck at a certain value by comparing the values.

      Coolant Temp Coolant temperature

      Min.: -40°C (-40°F)

      Max.: 140°C (284°F)

      75 to 100°C (167 to 212°F): After warming up
      • After warming up the engine, the engine coolant temperature will be 75 to 100°C (167 to 212°F).

      • After a cold soak, the engine coolant temperature, intake air temperature and ambient air temperature will be approximately equal.

      • Check if the engine is overheating if the value indicates 140°C (284°F).

      Throttle Motor DUTY Throttle actuator

      Min.: 0%

      Max.: 100%

10 to 22%: Idling This is the output duty ratio of the throttle actuator drive circuit.

      Tech Tips

      • *1: Refer to DTC P0705.

      • *2: "Shift Status" is a signal divided into 5 gear positions for Active Test.

It does not express gear ratios for normal driving or gear positions for 7-speed sport sequential shiftmatic mode.
