PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. Apply the parking brake and turn the ignition switch to ON.

   2. Depress the brake pedal and check that the engine starts when the shift lever is in N or P, but does not start in the other positions.

   3. Check that the back-up light illuminates and the reverse warning buzzer sounds only when the shift lever is in R, but does not function in the other positions.

      If a malfunction or failure is found, check the park/neutral position switch assembly for continuity.
