The generator assembly communicates with the ECM through the LIN communication system.

  1. CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM


    1. Check the charging system.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CHARGING SYSTEM

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GENERATOR ASSEMBLY - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the B186 ECM connector.

    2. Disconnect the B184 generator assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B184-2 (LIN) - B186-61 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B184-2 (LIN) or B186-61 (LIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
