MONOLITHIC CONVERTER REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE NO. 4 MANIFOLD CONVERTER INSULATOR

      Remove the 4 bolts and No. 4 manifold converter insulator from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.

  3. REMOVE MANIFOLD CONVERTER INSULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt and manifold converter insulator sub-assembly from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.

  4. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY

      Remove the bolt, nut and manifold stay.

  5. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY

      Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 manifold stay.

  6. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD STAY

      Remove the 2 bolts, nut and No. 2 exhaust manifold stay.

  7. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

      Remove the 3 nuts and exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.

    3. Remove the gasket from the turbocharger sub-assembly.

  8. REMOVE VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE ASSEMBLY

    1. Slide the clip and remove the vacuum transmitting hose assembly from the No. 1 vacuum pipe.

  9. REMOVE NO. 2 VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE ASSEMBLY

    1. Slide the clip and remove the No. 2 vacuum transmitting hose assembly from the No. 2 vacuum pipe.

  10. REMOVE EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR

  11. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR

  12. REMOVE NO. 3 EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR

  13. REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM PIPE

      Using a 17 mm union nut wrench, loosen the union nut.

    2. Remove the bolt and No. 1 vacuum pipe from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.

  14. REMOVE NO. 2 VACUUM PIPE

      Using a 14 mm union nut wrench, loosen the union nut.

    2. Remove the bolt and No. 2 vacuum pipe from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.

  15. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD CONVERTER INSULATOR

      Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 manifold converter insulator from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.
