DESCRIPTION
Refer to DTC P2016.
| DTC No. | Detection Item | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area | MIL | Memory |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P1470 | Permanent Positive Governor Deviation | The control error of the swirl control valve exceeds 5% and the measured position is less than 120% for 3 seconds or more. (3 trip detection logic) |
|
Does not come on | DTC stored |
| P1471 | Permanent Negative Governor Deviation | The control error of the swirl control valve exceeds -5% and the measured position is less than 120% for 3 seconds or more. (3 trip detection logic) |
|
Does not come on | DTC stored |
| P1472 | Jammed Valve | Even if the control error of the swirl control valve is not between -5% and 5% and 1.6 seconds elapse since the time the actuator operated, the control error does not recover for 3 seconds or more. (3 trip detection logic) |
|
Does not come on | DTC stored |
| P1474 | Jammed Valve During Offset Learning | The swirl control valve is unable to perform swirl-flap control within the specified time (3 seconds for open side, 4 seconds for close side) during the adaption phase. (3 trip detection logic) |

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Tech Tips
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
CHECK SWIRL CONTROL VALVE
Check for soot deposits inside the swirl control valve.
| OK |
|---|
| No soot deposits. |
Tech Tips
If soot deposits are found, clean the swirl control valve.
If cleaning does not remove the soot deposits, replace the swirl control valve.
Check for the operation mechanism of the swirl control valve for damage such as link deformation.
| OK |
|---|
| No damage. |
Check operation.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.
Start the engine.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Actuator Test of Swirl Flap / Data List / Swirl Valve Actuator Position.
