Either condition is met (3 trip detection logic):


  • Malfunction in part of glow plug controller assembly which outputs to No. 1 glow plug for 1.2 seconds or more

  • Glow plug controller assembly detects resistance malfunction in No. 1 glow plug for 1.2 seconds or more

  • Glow plug controller assembly

  • No. 1 glow plug

  • Open or short in No. 1 glow plug circuit

 Does not come on DTC stored
P06BA Cylinder 2 Glow Plug Circuit Range / Performance

Either condition is met (3 trip detection logic):


  • Malfunction in part of glow plug controller assembly which outputs to No. 2 glow plug for 1.2 seconds or more

  • Glow plug controller assembly detects resistance malfunction in No. 2 glow plug for 1.2 seconds or more

  • Glow plug controller assembly

  • No. 2 glow plug

  • Open or short in No. 2 glow plug circuit

 Does not come on DTC stored
P06BB Cylinder 3 Glow Plug Circuit Range / Performance

Either condition is met (3 trip detection logic):


  • Malfunction in part of glow plug controller assembly which outputs to No. 3 glow plug for 1.2 seconds or more

  • Glow plug controller assembly detects resistance malfunction in No. 3 glow plug for 1.2 seconds or more

  • Glow plug controller assembly

  • No. 3 glow plug

  • Open or short in No. 3 glow plug circuit

 Does not come on DTC stored
P06BC Cylinder 4 Glow Plug Circuit Range / Performance

Either condition is met (3 trip detection logic):


  • Malfunction in part of glow plug controller assembly which outputs to No. 4 glow plug for 1.2 seconds or more

  • Glow plug controller assembly detects resistance malfunction in No. 4 glow plug for 1.2 seconds or more

  • Glow plug controller assembly

  • No. 4 glow plug

  • Open or short in No. 4 glow plug circuit

 Does not come on DTC stored

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GLOW PLUG CONTROLLER ASSEMBLY - GLOW PLUG)


    1. Disconnect connectors of the glow plug controller assembly.

    2. Remove the glow plug connector from the glow plug.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X1-4 (GL1) - X3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      X1-1 (GL2) - X4-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      X1-6 (GL3) - X5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      X1-5 (GL4) - X6-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      X1-4 (GL1) or X3-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      X1-1 (GL2) or X4-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      X1-6 (GL3) or X5-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      X1-5 (GL4) or X6-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  2. REPLACE GLOW PLUG


    1. Replace the glow plug.

  3. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Clear the DTCs.


      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs

    4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 60 seconds or more [A].

    5. Perform road test [B].

    6. Repeat [A] and [B] for the number of trips detected.

    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.


      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes

    8. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.

  4. REPLACE GLOW PLUG CONTROLLER ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace the glow plug controller assembly.

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Clear the DTCs.


      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs

    4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 60 seconds or more [A].

    5. Perform road test [B].

    6. Repeat [A] and [B] for the number of trips detected.

    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.


      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes

    8. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
