MASS AIR FLOW METER ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

Note


  • Perform the Mass Air Flow (MAF) meter inspection according to the procedure below.

  • Only replace the MAF meter when the value in the DATA LIST (with the engine stopped) is not within the normal operating range or there is foreign matter on the MAF meter platinum hot wire (heater).

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK MASS AIR FLOW METER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Read the value using the GTS (MAF).

      Note


      • Perform the inspection with the vehicle indoors and on a level surface.

      • Perform the inspection of the mass air flow meter while it is installed to the air cleaner case (installed in the vehicle).

      • During the test, make sure that the exhaust air duct is not drawing air from the exhaust pipe.


      1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (do not run the engine).

      3. Turn the GTS on.

      4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAF.


        Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Data List

        MAF
      5. Wait 30 seconds, and read the values on the GTS.

        Standard
        Tester Display Condition Standard Condition
        MAF
        • Engine not running

        • 30 seconds after ignition switch is turned to ON

        Below 0.29 g/sec.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the MAF meter.
