THROTTLE BODY ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY


    1. Check the throttle control motor operating sounds.


      1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      2. When depressing the accelerator pedal, check the operating sounds of the motor. Make sure that no friction noise is emitted from the motor.

        If any friction noise exists, replace the throttle body.

    2. Check the throttle position sensor.


      1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the intelligent tester on.

      3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Throttle Position.


        Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Data List
        Tester Display
        Throttle Position No.1
        Throttle Position No.2
      4. When the throttle valve is fully open, check that the Throttle Sensor Position value is within the specification.

        Standard throttle valve opening percentage
        Tester Display Specified Condition
        Throttle Sensor Position 60% or higher

        CAUTION:

        When checking the standard throttle valve opening percentage, the shift lever should be in N.

        If the percentage is less than 60%, replace the throttle body assembly.
