| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| P158549 | Acceleration Sensor Circuit Internal Electronic Failure |
| P158649 | Acceleration Sensor Circuit Range / Performance Internal Electronic Failure |
DESCRIPTION
The yaw rate and acceleration sensor is built into the airbag sensor assembly. The airbag sensor assembly sends yaw rate and acceleration sensor signals to each ECU via CAN communication. These signals are used for the neutral control of the CVT system. If a yaw rate and acceleration sensor circuit malfunction signal, yaw rate and acceleration sensor stuck signal or abnormal sensor output signal is received from the skid control ECU, a DTC will be stored.
| DTC No. | Detection Item | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area | MIL | Memory | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P158549 | Acceleration Sensor Circuit Internal Electronic Failure | Yaw rate and acceleration sensor circuit malfunction signal is received from the skid control ECU for 3 seconds or more (1 trip detection logic). |
|
Does not come on | DTC stored | SAE Code: P1585 |
| P158649 | Acceleration Sensor Circuit Range / Performance Internal Electronic Failure | Yaw rate and acceleration sensor stuck signal or abnormal sensor output signal is received from the skid control ECU for 3 seconds or more (1 trip detection logic). |
|
Does not come on | DTC stored | SAE Code: P1586 |
CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
Start the engine and turn the GTS on.
Drive the vehicle while accelerating and decelerating repeatedly, for several minutes.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
Read the pending DTCs.
Tech Tips
If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
Input the DTC: P158549 or P158649.
Check the DTC judgment result.
| GTS Display | Description |
|---|---|
| NORMAL |
|
| ABNORMAL |
|
| INCOMPLETE |
|
| N/A |
|
Tech Tips
If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform the Confirmation Driving Pattern and check the DTC judgment result again.
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Note
Perform initialization after replacing any parts related to the any system.
Check that no DTCs are stored after performing initialization.
Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following procedure.
Tech Tips
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P158549 OR P158649)
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: System Select / Health Check.
Read the DTCs.

|
Tech Tips
If any CAN communication system DTCs are output, perform troubleshooting for the CAN communication system first.
If any DTCs other than P158549 or P158649 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.
