CAMSHAFT OIL CONTROL SOLENOID INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side)


    1. A01T8DTC02
      *1 O-ring

      Apply engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the O-ring.

    2. A01TA6IC95
      *a Adhesive

      Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of 2 new bolts.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

    3. Install the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly to the timing chain cover assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }

      Note


      • If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

      • Make sure that the O-ring is not cracked or moved out of place when installing the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.

    4. Connect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.

    5. Install the engine wire to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly with the bolt.

      Torque:
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side)


    1. A01T8DTC02
      *1 O-ring

      Apply engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the O-ring.

    2. A01TA6IC95
      *a Adhesive

      Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of 2 new bolts.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
    3. A01T8T8C01
      *a Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length
      *b 10 mm Union Nut Wrench

      Temporarily install the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly to the timing chain cover assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Note


      • If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

      • Make sure that the O-ring is not cracked or moved out of place when installing the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.

    4. Tighten the bolt (A).

      Torque:
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }

    5. Using a 10 mm union nut wrench, tighten the bolt (B).

      Torque:
      Specified tightening torque
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips


      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

      • When using a 10 mm union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 22 mm (0.866 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 162 mm (6.38 in.)):

        8.8 N*m (90 kgf*cm, 78 in.*lbf)

    6. Connect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.

  3. INSPECT FOR ENGINE OIL LEAK
