Tech Tips
After replacing any of the injector assemblies, perform both the "Injector Compensation" and the "Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset" functions using the GTS. If any of the injector assemblies and the ECM are replaced at the same time, perform the same initialization/registrations as when replacing the ECM.
After replacing the air fuel ratio sensor, perform the "A/F Sensor Compensation Reset" function using the GTS. If the air fuel ratio sensor and the ECM are replaced at the same time, perform the same initialization/registrations as when replacing the ECM.
After replacing the No. 2 exhaust manifold, perform the "DPF Deterioration Record Clear" function using the GTS. If the No. 2 exhaust manifold and the ECM are replaced at the same time, perform the same initialization/registrations as when replacing the ECM.
After replacing the engine assembly, perform both the "Injector Compensation" and the "Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset" functions using the GTS. If the engine assembly and the ECM are replaced at the same time, perform the same initialization/registrations as when replacing the ECM.
When the diesel throttle body assembly, electric EGR control valve assembly or turbocharger sub-assembly is replaced, perform initialization
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs.
Turn the ignition switch to off within 10 seconds of clearing DTCs and wait for 30 seconds.
Tech Tips
The ignition switch must be turned off before DTC recurs.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 10 seconds or more.
Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset (When replacing all injector assemblies)
Tech Tips
When any injector assemblies and/or the engine assembly are replaced, the pilot quantity learning values stored in the ECM must be reset.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset.
Tester Display
---
Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset
Press "Next".
Tech Tips
Confirm that the ignition switch is ON and the engine is stopped.
Select "All Injectors" and press "NEXT".
Press "EXIT".
Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset (When replacing specific any of the injector assemblies)
Tech Tips
When any injector assemblies and/or the engine assembly are replaced, the pilot quantity learning values stored in the ECM must be reset.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.

Select the cylinder(s) where injector(s) was replaced, and press "NEXT".
Press "EXIT".
DPF Deterioration Record Clear
Tech Tips
This value is the ash accumulation volume in the DPF catalytic converter calculated by the ECM. If the ash accumulation volume in the DPF catalytic converter increases, the difference in pressure in front of and behind the DPF catalytic converter will increase. The difference in pressure in front of and behind the DPF catalytic converter is offset depending on the volume of accumulated ash.
When a DPF catalyst is replaced, the DPF deterioration record stored in the ECM must be cleared.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / DPF Deterioration Record Clear.
Tester Display
---
DPF Deterioration Record Clear
Press "Next".
Tech Tips
Confirm that the ignition switch is ON and the engine is stopped.
Press "Next".
A/F Sensor Compensation Reset (When replace Air Fuel Ratio Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 1))
Tech Tips
When an air fuel ratio sensor (bank 1 sensor 1) is replaced, the A/F sensor compensation learning value stored in the ECM must be reset.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / A/F Sensor Compensation Reset.
Tester Display
---
A/F Sensor Compensation Reset
Press "Next".
Tech Tips
Confirm that the ignition switch is ON and the engine is stopped.
Select "A/F Sensor B1S1" and press "Next".
Press "EXIT".
A/F Sensor Compensation Reset (When replace Air Fuel Ratio Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 2))
Tech Tips
When an air fuel ratio sensor (bank 1 sensor 2) is replaced, the A/F sensor compensation learning value stored in the ECM must be reset.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
