EXHAUST PIPE REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (w/ Exhaust Heat Recirculation System)

   Click here

2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (w/ Exhaust Heat Recirculation System)

   Click here

3. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the 2 bolts.

   2. Remove the tail exhaust pipe assembly from the exhaust pipe support.

   3. Remove the gasket from the center exhaust pipe assembly (for Rear Side).

4. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for Rear Side)

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.

   2. Remove the center exhaust pipe assembly (for Rear Side) from the exhaust pipe support.

   3. Remove the gasket from the center exhaust pipe assembly (for Front Side).

5. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for Front Side)

   
   

   1. w/o Exhaust Heat Recirculation System:

      
      

      1. 

         Remove the 2 bolts.

      2. Remove the center exhaust pipe assembly (for Front Side) from the 2 exhaust pipe supports.

      3. Remove the gasket from the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).

   2. w/ Exhaust Heat Recirculation System:

      
      

      1. 

         Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 water hoses.

      2. 

         Remove the 2 bolts.

      3. Remove the center exhaust pipe assembly (for Front Side) from the 2 exhaust pipe supports.

         Note

         
         

         • Do not hold the water inlet pipe and outlet pipe.

         • When removing or installing the center exhaust pipe assembly, do not subject the temperature switch to impacts.

      4. Remove the gasket from the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).

6. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR

7. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst)

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the 2 bolts, 2 compression springs and front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).

   2. Remove the gasket from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly (TWC: Front Catalyst).
