EXHAUST PIPE REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

   
   
   1. 

      *A	for Hatchback
      *B	for Wagon

      Remove the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.

   2. Disconnect the tail exhaust pipe assembly from the 3 exhaust pipe supports.

      Note

      Wrap the tail exhaust pipe baffle sub-assembly with a piece of cloth to keep it from damaging the rear bumper.

   3. Remove the gasket from the front exhaust pipe assembly.

2. REMOVE FRONT NO. 3 ENGINE UNDER COVER

   
   

   1. 

      Disengage the 4 clips to remove front No. 3 engine under cover.

3. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY

   
   
   1. 

      *A	Type A
      *B	Type B

      Remove the 4 bolts and front center floor brace sub-assembly.

4. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR

5. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.

   2. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe assembly from the 2 exhaust pipe supports.

   3. Remove the gasket from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.

6. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE BAFFLE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Tail Exhaust Pipe Baffle)

   Tech Tips

   
   

   • Perform this procedure only when replacement of the tail exhaust pipe baffle sub-assembly is necessary.

   
   

   • If the tail exhaust pipe baffle sub-assembly is removed, replace it with a new one.

      *a	Plastic Hammer

      Using a plastic hammer, remove the tail exhaust pipe baffle sub-assembly from the tail exhaust pipe assembly.
