AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK RAIN SENSOR (w/ Rain Sensor)


    1. Check that the dimmer switch is set to auto.

    2. Cover the rain sensor with your hand and confirm that the headlights illuminate.

      OK
      Headlights illuminate.
  2. CHECK AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (w/o Rain Sensor)


    1. Disconnect the automatic light control sensor connector.

      Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      2 (CLTE) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 (CLTB) - 2 (CLTE) Engine switch off Below 1 V
      Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      If the result not as specified, repair or replace the wire harness.

    3. Reconnect the automatic light control sensor connector.

      Connect an oscilloscope to the automatic light control sensor connector.

      Check the waveform.

      4 (CLTS) - 2 (CLTE) 2 V/DIV., 10 msec./ DIV. Engine switch on (IG), Light control switch in AUTO Correct waveform is as shown

      Tech Tips

      The communication waveform changes according to the surrounding brightness.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the automatic light control sensor.
