SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION


  1. SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

    If a seat belt is not fastened, this system flashes the seat belt warning light or sounds the seat belt warning buzzer as a reminder.


    1. Front seat belt warning light:


        for Driver Side

      • When the driver seat belt is not fastened with the ignition switch ON, the front seat belt warning light in the combination meter assembly blinks to inform the driver. The main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly) detects the driver seat belt status and sends signals to the combination meter assembly using the CAN.


        for Front Passenger Side

      • When the front passenger seat belt is not fastened with the ignition switch ON and the front passenger seat occupied, the front seat belt warning light in the combination meter assembly blinks. The combination meter assembly displays the front passenger seat belt status and whether the front passenger seat is occupied.

    2. Rear seat belt warning light (w/ Rear No. 1 Seat, w/ Rear No. 2 Seat):

      When a rear door is opened and closed (the rear door courtesy light switch turns on and off) with the ignition switch ON, or when a rear door is opened and closed (the rear door courtesy light switch turns on and off) and then the ignition switch is turned to ON, the rear seat belt warning light in the telltale light assembly turns on to inform the driver of the condition of the rear seat belts.

    3. Seat belt warning buzzer:

      The seat belt warning buzzer in the combination meter assembly sounds at an interval of 1.2 seconds for 30 seconds, and then the buzzer sounds at an interval of 0.4 seconds for 90 seconds when the vehicle is driven at approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more and any of the following conditions are met: 1) the driver seat belt is unfastened, 2) the front passenger seat belt is unfastened with the front passenger seat occupied, or 3)* a rear door has been opened and closed and a rear seat belt is unfastened.

  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT

    The following functions are available.

    Informs telltale light assembly of condition of rear seat belts (fastened or unfastened)

      for Driver Side

    • If driver seat belt is unfastened and ignition switch is ON, combination meter assembly flashes seat belt warning light in combination meter assembly as reminder


      for Front Passenger Side

    • When front passenger seat is occupied and ignition switch is ON, if front passenger seat belt is unfastened, combination meter assembly flashes front passenger side seat belt warning light in combination meter assembly as reminder

    Rear seat belt warning light*3, *4 When rear door is opened and closed (rear door courtesy light switch turns on and off) with ignition switch ON, or when rear door is opened and closed (rear door courtesy light switch turns on and off) and then ignition switch is turned to ON, telltale light assembly turns on rear seat belt warning light in telltale light assembly as reminder
    Seat belt warning buzzer If vehicle is driven at approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more with any of following conditions met, combination meter assembly sounds buzzer as reminder: 1) driver seat belt is unfastened, 2) front passenger seat belt is unfastened with front passenger seat occupied, or 3)*3, *4 rear door has been opened and closed and rear seat belt is unfastened.
