CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Note
When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.
w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the ignition switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately a minute to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch off, wait a minute or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
Tech Tips
To perform the simulation method, enter check mode (signal check) with the intelligent tester (See page ), and then wiggle each connector of the airbag system or drive the vehicle on various types of roads Click here.
PROCEDURE
CHECK LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG (DRIVER SIDE KNEE SQUIB)
| *1 | Driver Side Knee Squib |
| *2 | Center Airbag Sensor |
| *3 | Front view of wire harness connector (to Driver Side Knee Squib) |
| *4 | Connector C |
Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Disconnect the connector from the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag.
Connect the white wire side of SST (resistance: 2.1 Ω) to connector C.
CAUTION:
Never connect the tester to the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag (driver side knee squib) for measurement, as this may lead to a serious injury due to airbag deployment.
Note
Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting SST.
Insert SST straight into the terminals of the connector.
Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
