FUEL PUMP REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SEAT ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear No. 1 Seat)

    1. Remove the rear No. 1 seat Click here.

  2. REMOVE REAR CENTER SEAT ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear No. 1 Seat)

    1. Remove the rear center seat Click here.

  3. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER

    1. A002PZV

Remove the rear floor service hole cover.

    2. Disconnect the connector from the fuel suction with pump.

  4. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE

    1. Discharge fuel system pressure Click here.

  5. PRECAUTION

    Note

After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  6. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

      *1 Fuel Tube Joint
      *2 Tube Joint Clip
      *3 O-Ring

Remove the tube joint clip and pull the fuel tube joint out of the plug of the fuel suction with pump.

      Note

      • Check that there is no dirt or other foreign objects around the fuel tube joint before disconnecting it. Clean the joint if necessary.

      • It is necessary to prevent mud or dirt from entering the joint. If mud or dirt gets in the joint, the O-rings may not seal properly.

      • Only disconnect the joint by hand.

      • Do not bend, kink or twist the nylon tubes.

      • Protect the contact surfaces by covering the fuel tube joint with a plastic bag.

  8. DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL EVAPORATION TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. A002P9Y

Loosen the clip and disconnect the No. 1 fuel evaporation tube from the fuel suction with pump.

  9. DISCONNECT NO. 1 CHARCOAL CANISTER OUTLET HOSE

    1. A002NNU

Disconnect the No. 1 charcoal canister outlet hose from the fuel suction with pump.

      Tech Tips

      • Be sure to use 2 SST (claws) as shown in the illustration.

      • Engage SST (claws) securely with the fuel pump gauge retainer ribs to secure SST.

    2. While securely pressing SST (claws) against the fuel pump gauge retainer ribs, install the 2 bolts.

      Tech Tips

Install SST while pressing SST (claws) against the fuel pump gauge retainer (towards the center of SST).

    3. Install SST (handle).

    4. A002P9IE04

Lightly press down on SST to prevent it from separating from the fuel pump gauge retainer. While pressing SST, rotate the handle slowly to loosen the fuel pump gauge retainer.

      Note

      • Do not use any tools other than those specified in this operation. Damage to the fuel pump gauge retainer or fuel tank may result.

      • Do not press down on SST excessively as this may make the fuel pump gauge retainer hard to rotate and may damage components.

      • Make sure to rotate SST (handle) horizontally. If SST (handle) is rotated at an angle, SST may come off.

      • Do not spin SST too fast or use an impact wrench as this may result in damage to components.

      • If SST comes off of the fuel pump gauge retainer, loosen SST (bolts) and reinstall SST.

      Tech Tips

The tips of SST (claws) can be fitted onto the ribs of the fuel pump gauge retainer.

    5. Remove the fuel pump gauge retainer while holding the fuel suction with pump by hand.

  11. REMOVE FUEL SUCTION WITH PUMP ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the fuel suction with pump from the fuel tank.

      Note

Make sure that the fuel sender gauge arm does not bend.
