  • When replacing the ECM, the ECM needs Registration and Initialization Click here.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

Tech Tips

When the ECM must be replaced, before replacing the ECM, perform the "Learning Values Save" function using the GTS. Then after installing the new ECM, perform all of the initialization/registrations for the "Learning Values Write" function by following the instructions shown on the GTS display.

  1. CHECK WHETHER ENGINE CAN BE CRANKED


    1. Check if the engine can be cranked.

  2. INSPECT STARTER RELAY (ST)


    1. Inspect the starter relay Click here.

  3. READ VALUE USING GTS (STARTER SIGNAL)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Starter Signal.

    5. Check the value displayed on the GTS when the ignition switch is turned to the ON and START positions.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ST RELAY HOLDER TERMINAL VOLTAGE)

      Remove the ST relay from the No. 3 relay block.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STARTER ASSEMBLY - ST RELAY HOLDER)


    1. Remove the ST relay from the No. 3 relay block.

    2. Disconnect the starter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C92-1 - 3 (ST relay holder) Always Below 1 Ω
      C92-1 or 3 (ST relay holder) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  7. READ VALUE USING GTS (STARTER SIGNAL)


    1. Disconnect the power management control ECU connector.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Starter Signal.

    6. Check the value displayed on the GTS when the ignition switch is turned to the ON and START positions.
