ECD SYSTEM(for Swirl Control Valve), Diagnostic DTC:P1570, P2227, P2228, P2229

DTC Code DTC Name
P1570 Ambient Air Pressure Sensor Range Check Error
P2227 Barometric Pressure Sensor "A" Circuit Range / Performance
P2228 Barometric Pressure Sensor "A" Circuit Low
P2229 Barometric Pressure Sensor "A" Circuit High

DESCRIPTION

To detect atmospheric pressure, the built-in atmospheric pressure sensor in the ECM is used for the common rail system. According to changes in the atmospheric pressure, the ECM corrects the fuel injection volume and timing, and adjusts the common rail internal fuel pressure in order to optimize engine combustion.

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P1570

Either condition is met:

  • Atmospheric pressure sensor output is less than 600 mbar (60 kPa) for 0.6 seconds.

  • Atmospheric pressure sensor output is 1200 mbar (120 kPa) or more for 0.6 seconds.

(3 trip detection logic)

ECM
DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P2227

The difference between the standard pressure value calculated from the turbo pressure and exhaust gas pressure sensor and the ambient pressure is 80 mbar (8 kPa) or more for 0.5 seconds.

(3 trip detection logic)

Tech Tips

The difference of the standard pressure value (turbo pressure and exhaust gas pressure) is 60 mbar (6 kPa) or less.

ECM
DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P2228

Atmospheric pressure sensor output is less than 0.2 V for 0.6 seconds.

(3 trip detection logic)

ECM
DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P2229

Atmospheric pressure sensor output is more than 4.97 V for 0.6 seconds.

  • Atmosphere Pressure

  • MAP

Tech Tips

  • When the ignition switch is ON, the intake air pipe pressure is approximately equal to atmospheric pressure.

  • Standard atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa. For every 100 m increase in altitude, pressure drops by 1 kPa. Varies by weather.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

When replacing the ECM, the ECM needs Registration and Initialization Click here.

Tech Tips

  • When the DTC P1570, P2227, P2228 or P2229 is stored, check the difference between MAP and Atmosphere Pressure values by entering the following menus using the GTS: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAP and Atmosphere Pressure.

The difference should be within +/-7 kPa in the normal condition.

  • When the ECM must be replaced, before replacing the ECM, perform the "Learning Values Save" function using the GTS. Then after installing the new ECM, perform all of the initialization/registrations for the "Learning Values Write" function by following the instructions shown on the GTS display.

  • Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. REPLACE ECM

    1. Replace the ECM Click here.

  2. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 60 seconds or more [A].

    5. Perform road test [B].

    6. Repeat [A] and [B] for the number of trips detected.

    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    8. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
