STOP AND START SYSTEM REGISTRATION

PROCEDURE

  1. ECU EXCHANGE

    Note

After replacing the engine stop and start ECU, upload the number of starter operations to the new engine stop and start ECU using the GTS.

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / ECU Exchange.

    5. According to the GTS display, download the previous status (the number of starter operations) from the old engine stop and start ECU to the GTS.

    6. Replace the engine stop and start ECU Click here.

    7. According to the GTS display, upload the previous status (the number of starter operations) from the GTS to the new engine stop and start ECU.

  2. CLEAR NUMBER OF STARTER OPERATIONS

    Note

After the starter assembly is replaced, be sure to clear the number of starter operations stored in the engine stop and start ECU.

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Starter Exchange.

  3. RESET AIR CONDITIONING INFORMATION

    Note

After replacing the engine stop and start ECU or air conditioning amplifier assembly, initialization of the air conditioning information in the engine stop and start ECU is necessary.

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Reset A/C Information.

  4. LEARNING AIR CONDITIONING INFORMATION

    Tech Tips

When initialization of the air conditioning information is complete, air conditioning information learning is automatically performed. If the learning cannot be performed properly, inspect the CAN communication system.

  5. CLEAR THE DECELERATION SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION DATA

    Note

    • After replacing the engine stop and start ECU or yaw rate sensor, perform deceleration sensor zero point clear and calibration.

    • Once the zero point is stored, it cannot be overwritten until the data is cleared. Be sure to perform zero point clear and calibration after replacing the yaw rate sensor.

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Move the shift lever to neutral and apply the parking brake.

    3. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      Tech Tips

      Do not start the engine.

    5. Turn the GTS on.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Deceleration Sensor Zero Point Clear.

    7. Turn the ignition switch off.

  6. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION OF THE DECELERATION SENSOR

    Note

Park the vehicle on a level surface (grade: +/-1%). Do not shake the vehicle body or open/close any of the doors during zero point calibration. To avoid vibrations caused by the engine idling, do not start the engine.

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Check the shift lever in neutral.

    3. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      Tech Tips

      Do not start the engine.

    5. Check that the parking brake is applied and the brake warning light is illuminated.

    6. Turn the GTS on.

    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Deceleration Sensor Zero Point Calibration.

      Tech Tips

If DTC P1589 is stored, the stop and start cancel indicator light blinks.

    8. While keeping the vehicle stationary, follow the prompts on the GTS screen. Check that "Complete" is displayed on the GTS screen.

      Note

If zero point calibration fails, perform again from "CLEAR THE ZERO POINT CALIBRATION DATA".

  7. CLEAR THE INTEGRATED CURRENT VALUE

    Tech Tips

After charging the battery, perform the integrated current value initialization.

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Integrated Current Value Initialization.
