BACK DOOR SUPPORT INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL UPPER BACK DOOR DAMPER STAY BRACKET LH


    1. Clean the threaded surface on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.

    2. When reusing the bolt:


      1. Clean the threaded surface on the bolt with a non-residue solvent.

      2. Apply adhesive to the threads of the bolt.

        Adhesive
        Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
    3. A01WVZEE03

      Temporarily install the upper back door damper stay bracket LH with the 2 bolts.

    4. Tighten 2 bolts to install the upper back door damper stay bracket LH.

      Torque:
      18 N*m  { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Tighten the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

  2. INSTALL BACK DOOR STAY BOLT


    1. Clean the threaded surface on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.

    2. When reusing the back door stay bolt:


      1. Clean the threaded surface on the back door stay bolt with a non-residue solvent.

      2. Apply adhesive to the threads of the back door stay bolt.

        Adhesive
        Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
    3. A01WUD5

      Install the back door stay bolt.

      Torque:
      18 N*m  { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL BACK DOOR STAY ASSEMBLY LH


    1. When reusing the back door stay assembly LH:


      1. Install the back door stay assembly LH with the 2 stop rings.

    2. A01WUVO

      Attach the 2 ball joints to install the back door stay assembly LH.

      Note


      • Install the back door stay assembly while supporting the back door by hand.

      • Check that the back door stay assembly is engaged in the ball joint and that the back door stay assembly cannot be pulled out.
