WINDSHIELD DEICER SYSTEM Windshield Deicer does not Operate

DESCRIPTION

When the windshield deicer switch is turned on, a windshield deicer activation request signal is sent via the CAN communication line to the air conditioning amplifier assembly. Then the air conditioning amplifier operates the windshield deicer. When the on signal from the switch is received, the deicer relay (DEICER) is operated for 15 minutes. Also, if the off signal from the switch is received within 15 minutes, the deicer relay (DEICER) operation is stopped.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK FOR DTC


    1. Check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally. Click here.

      DTC is not output.

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (DEICER RELAY)


    1. Select the Active Test using the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the windshield deicer operates Click here.

  4. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY


    1. Temporarily replace the air conditioning amplifier assembly with a new or normally functioning one Click here.

    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    2. Check that pressing the windshield deicer switch illuminates the indicator and warms the front windshield surface.

    3. Check that after approximately 15 minutes, the indicator light turns off and the windshield deicer deactivates.

  6. REPLACE MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Remove the deicer relay from the engine room relay block.

    2. Disconnect the E36 air conditioning amplifier connector.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
