BACK WINDOW GLASS REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE LOWER BACK DOOR STOPPER CUSHION (w/ Power Back Door)

  4. REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Power Back Door)

  5. REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH (w/ Power Back Door)

  6. REMOVE BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING LH

    *a Cut

    1. Using a knife, cut off the back window outside moulding LH as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

    2. Pull the shaded area shown in the illustration by the hand to remove the back window outside moulding LH.

      Tech Tips

      Make a partial cut in the moulding. Then pull and remove it by hand.

  7. REMOVE BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  8. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS

      *1 Protective Tape

      Put protective tape on the back door panel around the back door glass.

      Note

      When separating the back door glass from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle paint or interior/exterior ornaments.

      When reusing back door glass:


      1. Place adhesive tape on the back door glass and body panel and use a pen to place matchmarks for installation.

      *a Connector

      Detach the clamp and claw.

    4. Disconnect the connector.

    5. Install the suction cups to the back door glass.

      *2 Back Window Glass Clip RH
      *3 No. 2 Back Window glass Spacer
      *4 No. 1 Back Window glass Spacer
      *5 Back Door Glass Adhesive Dam
      *a Piano Wire

      Insert a piano wire at the locations shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Make sure not to damage the wire harness.

    7. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to the wire ends.

    8. Pull on the ends of the piano wire alternately and leave the back door glass spacers when cutting through the adhesive.

      Note


      • Do not forcefully brush the piano wire against the back door glass.

      • Be careful as the piano wire will break if it crosses itself.

    9. Using suction cups, remove the back door glass.

      Note

      Make sure that the back door glass does not fall.

  9. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY

      *1 Adhesive

      Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.


      1. On the contact surface of the vehicle body, use a knife to cut away excess adhesive as shown in the illustration.

        Note

        Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

        Tech Tips

        Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

    2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with cleaner.

      Tech Tips

      Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
