AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM PRECAUTION

  1. PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING GTS

    1. When using the GTS to troubleshoot the CAN communication line or LIN communication line:

Connect the GTS to the vehicle, and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at 1.5 second intervals until communication between the GTS and vehicle begins.

    2. After all DTCs are cleared, check if the trouble occurs again 6 seconds after the engine switch is turned no (IG).

  2. IF ANY OF FOLLOWING CONDITIONS ARE MET, KEEP ENGINE IDLING WITH A/C ON (ENGINE SPEED AT LESS THAN 2000 RPM) FOR AT LEAST 2 MINUTE:

    • Refrigerant gas has been refilled or A/C parts have been replaced.

    • The engine has not been started for a long time.

    Note

If the engine speed exceeds 2,000 rpm, the A/C compressor may be damaged.

  3. DO NOT HANDLE REFRIGERANT IN AN ENCLOSED AREA OR NEAR AN OPEN FLAME

  4. ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION

  5. BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET LIQUID REFRIGERANT IN YOUR EYES OR ON YOUR SKIN

If liquid refrigerant gets in your eyes or on your skin:

    1. Wash the area with lots of cold water.

      CAUTION:

Do not rub your eyes or skin.

    2. Apply clean petroleum jelly to the skin.

    3. Go immediately to a hospital or see a physician for professional treatment.

  6. NEVER HEAT CONTAINER OR EXPOSE IT TO OPEN FLAME

  7. BE CAREFUL NOT TO DROP CONTAINER OR APPLY PHYSICAL SHOCKS TO IT

  8. DO NOT OPERATE COMPRESSOR WITH INSUFFICIENT REFRIGERANT IN REFRIGERANT SYSTEM

    *1 Wrong
    *2 Okay

If there is not enough refrigerant in the refrigerant system, oil lubrication will be insufficient and compressor burnout may occur. Necessary care should be taken to avoid this.

  9. DO NOT OPEN HIGH PRESSURE MANIFOLD VALVE WHILE COMPRESSOR IS OPERATING

Open and close only the low pressure valve. Opening and closing the high pressure valve could cause the charging cylinder to rupture.

  10. BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVERCHARGE SYSTEM WITH REFRIGERANT

If the refrigerant is overcharged, it causes problems such as insufficient cooling, poor fuel economy and engine overheating.

  11. DO NOT OPERATE ENGINE AND COMPRESSOR WITHOUT REFRIGERANT

    Note

This may damage the inside of the compressor.

  12. CHECK MEMORY CALL FUNCTION

    1. Memory registration.

      Note

Be sure to have all electrical key transmitter sub-assemblies prepared and available before performing registration.

      1. Lock the doors using an electrical key transmitter sub-assembly before performing registration.

      2. Sit in the driver seat while holding only the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly to be registered.

      3. Start the engine and turn on the air conditioning system.

      4. Turn the engine switch off.

        Tech Tips

It is necessary to resister each transmitter individually.

    2. Check memory call function.

      1. With the ID code of the transmitter registered in memory, check that the air condition operation is restored to its previous state when the engine started.

  13. 13.CHECK CLIMATE CONCIERGE FUNCTION

    1. Front seat centralized control function:

Set the vehicle to the following condition.

      Item Condition
      Rear seats (No. 2) Unoccupied
      Air outlet mode FACE

      1. Turn the climate concierge switch on and check that the indicator illuminates, the rear air outlets turns off and the air flow from the front air outlets increases.

      2. When the following conditions are met, check that the rear air outlets resume operation and the air flow from the front air outlets decreases (return to normal).

        • Climate concierge switch off (indicator turned off)

        • AUTO function canceled

        • Rear seats occupied
