PROCEDURE
INSTALL STEERING PAD
Check that the engine switch is off.
Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Support the steering pad with one hand.

Connect the airbag connector and lock the connector lock.
Note
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
Tech Tips
Use the same procedure to connect the airbag connector on the other side.
Connect the horn connector.
Connect the 3 connectors.
Set the steering pad to the steering wheel assembly.
Check that the airbag wire harness and horn wire harness are not pinched.

Press the steering pad with both hands to attach the upper pin to the torsion spring.
Press the steering pad with both hands to attach the lower pin to the torsion spring.
Note
After installation, try to pull the steering pad and check that the steering pad is securely installed.
INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER
Attach the guide and claw to install the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.
INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER
Attach the guide and claw to install the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.
CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.
INSTALL UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL
INSPECT STEERING PAD
With the steering pad installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the steering pad with a new one:
Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the steering pad top surface or in the grooved portion.
Make sure that the horn sounds.
Tech Tips
If the horn does not sound, inspect the horn system.
