LIGHTING SYSTEM Back Door Courtesy Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) detects the condition of the back door courtesy light switch assembly.

Note


  • If the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) is replaced, refer to Service Bulletin.

  • As the door control battery is installed between the vehicle battery and main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU), first perform the inspections in On-vehicle Inspection to confirm that there are no malfunctions in the power source circuit for the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) before performing this troubleshooting procedure Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (BACK DOOR COURTESY SWITCH)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

  2. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (COURTESY SWITCH)


    1. Remove the back door lock assembly Click here.

    2. Inspect the back door lock assembly (courtesy switch) Click here.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH - BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the S30 back door lock assembly connector (w/ power back door).

    2. Disconnect the S38 back door lock assembly connector (w/o power back door).

    3. Disconnect the 2K cowl side junction block LH connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (w/ power back door)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S30-4 (CTY) - 2K-31 Always Below 1 Ω
      S30-4 (CTY) or 2K-31 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S30-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (w/o power back door)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S38-3 (+) - 2K-31 Always Below 1 Ω
      S38-3 (+) or 2K-31 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S38-2 (ACT-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  4. CHECK COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH


    1. Remove the cowl side junction block LH.


    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the cowl side junction block LH.


    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
