Both of following conditions are met:


  1. Electric parking brake is operating

  2. One of following is detected: motor lock, gear lock, stuck cable, cable cut


  • Parking brake cable condition

  • Parking brake assembly

  • Wire harness or connector

  • Parking brake with bracket actuator assembly

An electric parking brake system malfunction is displayed on the multi-information display.

Note


  • If the parking brake with bracket actuator assembly is replaced, perform the "Reset Memory" and "Acquire Tension Sensor Zero Point" procedures Click here.

  • Before disconnecting connectors or fuses, turn the engine switch off and wait 20 seconds or more.

  • This DTC may be stored when the parking brake is forcibly released, but this is not a malfunction.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC


    1. Check for DTC Click here. Check if DTCs other than C13A7/43 are output.

  2. CHECK PARKING BRAKE CABLE


    1. Check that the parking brake cable is not cracked or stuck, and that it is correctly installed Click here.

  3. CHECK PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY


    1. Check if each part is installed properly Click here.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARKING BRAKE ECU - PARKING BRAKE WITH BRACKET ACTUATOR)


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the K53 parking brake ECU assembly connector.

    3. Disconnect the N15 parking brake with bracket actuator assembly connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K53-8 (TSEN) - N15-1 (TSEN) Always Below 1 Ω
      K53-6 (TSN2) - N15-3 (TSN2) Always Below 1 Ω
      K53-7 (VT) - N15-2 (VT) Always Below 1 Ω
      K53-14 (TGND) - N15-8 (TGND) Always Below 1 Ω
      K53-10 (SG) - N15-4 (SG) Always Below 1 Ω
      K53-8 (TSEN) or N15-1 (TSEN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K53-6 (TSN2) or N15-3 (TSN2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K53-7 (VT) or N15-2 (VT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K53-14 (TGND) or N15-8 (TGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K53-10 (SG) or N15-4 (SG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
