Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.

  • The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR DISC

      *1 Matchmark

      Align the matchmarks, and then install the rear disc.

      Tech Tips

      When replacing the rear disc with a new one, select the installation position where the rear disc has the minimum runout.

  2. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE

  3. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG

  4. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSH


    1. A01WUXEE04
      *1 Lithium soap base glycol grease

      Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to a new rear disc brake cylinder slide bush.

      Tech Tips

      Apply at least 0.8 g (0.03 oz.) of lithium soap base glycol grease to rear disc brake cylinder slide bush.

    2. Install the rear disc brake cylinder slide bush to the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

      *1 Lithium soap base glycol grease

      Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to the sliding part of the cylinder slide pin, and insert the pin into slide bush to evenly spread the grease inside the bush.

  5. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE BUSH DUST BOOT

      *1 Lithium soap base glycol grease

      Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of a new rear disc brake bush dust boot where it contacts the rear disc brake cylinder mounting, and the entire inner circumference of its both ends.

      Tech Tips

      Apply at least 0.3 g (0.01 oz.) of lithium soap base glycol grease to the rear disc brake bush dust boot.

      Note


      • Apply a sufficient amount of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of the rear disc brake bush dust boot and rear disc brake cylinder mounting contact surfaces.

      • Install the boot securely to the grooves of the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

    2. Install a new rear disc brake bush dust boot to the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

  6. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER HOLE PLUG


    1. A01WUNPE03
      *1 Lithium soap base glycol grease

      Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to a new rear disc brake cylinder hole plug.

    2. Install the rear disc brake cylinder hole plug to the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

  7. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING LH

    Note


    • The pad supports are attached to the rear disc brake cylinder mounting with double-sided tape. After removing the brake pads, make sure the pad supports are not detached. If the pad supports are not detached, they can be reused. If they are detached, replace the pad supports with new ones.

    • If the pad supports are removed during maintenance of parts, replace them with new ones.


    1. A01WSLD

      Install the rear disc brake cylinder mounting with 2 new bolts.

      Torque:
      154 N*m  { 1570 kgf*cm, 114 ft.*lbf }

  8. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE

    Note


    • The pad support plates can be reused if they are securely attached to the cylinder mounting. Therefore, do not remove the pad support plates from the cylinder mounting.

    • If a pad support plate is removed, replace it with a new one that is supplied with double-sided tape already attached.

    • Make sure to clean the cylinder mounting contact surface before attaching the pad support plates.


    1. Clean the cylinder mounting surface where the pad support plates will be attached.

    2. Remove the peeling paper from the double-sided tape and install 2 new pad support plates to the cylinder mounting.

  9. INSTALL REAR NO. 2 DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE

    Note


    • The pad support plates can be reused if they are securely attached to the cylinder mounting. Therefore, do not remove the pad support plates from the cylinder mounting.

    • If a pad support plate is removed, replace it with a new one that is supplied with double-sided tape already attached.

    • Make sure to clean the cylinder mounting contact surface before attaching the pad support plates.


    1. Clean the cylinder mounting surface where the pad support plates will be attached.

    2. Remove the peeling paper from the double-sided tape and install 2 new pad support plates to the cylinder mounting.

  10. INSTALL PAD WEAR INDICATOR PLATE


    1. Install the pad wear indicator plate to the inner disc brake pad.

  11. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT


    1. Install the anti-squeal shims to each brake pads.

      Note

      There should be no oil or grease on the friction surfaces of the brake pads and the rear disc.

  12. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE PAD

    Note


    • When installing the pads, make sure that the No. 1 and No. 2 disc brake pad support plates are securely attached to the cylinder mounting. The pad support plates are attached to the cylinder mounting with double-sided tape.

    • If a pad support plate is not securely attached to the cylinder mounting, replace it with a new one.


    1. Install the 2 disc brake pads to the disc brake cylinder mounting.

  13. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01WSK6E02
      *1 Lithium soap base glycol grease

      Apply a light coat of lithium soap base glycol grease to the sliding part of the 2 cylinder slide pins.

    2. A01WUFI

      Install the cylinder with the 2 cylinder slide pins.

      Torque:
      88 N*m  { 897 kgf*cm, 65 ft.*lbf }

  14. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE DUST BOOT PROTECTOR


    1. Install the rear disc brake dust boot protector with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      7.9 N*m  { 81 kgf*cm, 70 in.*lbf }

  15. CONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH


    1. A01WUKG

      Install a new gasket and connect the flexible hose with the new union bolt.

      Torque:
      30 N*m  { 306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf }

  16. BLEED BRAKE LINE

  17. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

    Torque:
    131 N*m  { 1336 kgf*cm, 97 ft.*lbf }
