AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P08CE

DTC Code DTC Name
P08CE Shift Solenoid "J" Stuck On

DESCRIPTION

Based on signals from the transmission revolution sensors (NT and SP2), the actual gear is detected.

If the detected gear is different than the commanded gear, the TCM detects related mechanical problems in the shift solenoid valves, transmission valve body assembly and automatic transmission assembly (clutch, brake, gear, etc.).

Tech Tips

Actual gear when a malfunction occurs in shift solenoid valve SC2 (without fail-safe control):

  1. Battery voltage is 9.5 V or higher, engine speed is more than 400 rpm, and the vehicle is driven with the shift lever in R (no malfunctions are detected in shift solenoid valve SC1, SC2, SL1, SL2, SL3, SL4, SL5, SLT, SLU, park/neutral position switch assembly, TCM, electronic throttle, knock control sensor, No. 1 ATF temperature sensor, transmission revolution sensors (NT), and CAN communication system)

  2. The engine overruns (neutral status).

  3. Malfunction status is detected 3 times per trip

  4. 2-trip detection logic

  • Shift solenoid valve SC2

  • Shift solenoid valve SL3

  • Shift solenoid valve SLT

  • Transmission valve body assembly

  • Automatic transmission assembly (clutch, brake, gear, etc)

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

This DTC indicates a "stuck ON" malfunction of shift solenoid valve SC2.

When the vehicle does not move with the shift lever in R, the TCM illuminates the MIL* and stores the DTC.

Note

Perform registration and/or initialization when parts related to the automatic transmission are replaced Click here.

Tech Tips

After performing repair, clear the DTCs and perform the following procedure to check that DTCs are not output.

  1. Start the engine.*1

  2. Drive the vehicle backward with the shift lever in R.*2

  3. Turn the engine switch off.

  4. Perform steps (*1) through (*2) again.

  5. Check for DTCs again Click here.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P08CE)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Trouble Codes.

    5. Read the DTCs using the GTS.
