  5. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

    1. B001AOT

Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the automatic transmission fluid.

    2. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

      Torque:
      20 N*m  { 204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }
  6. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. B0019IL

Remove the 12 bolts, automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly and automatic transmission oil pan gasket.

      Note

Some fluid will remain in the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly. Remove all of the bolts, and carefully remove the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the 4 transmission oil cleaner magnets from the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly.

      1. Use the removed transmission oil cleaner magnets to collect any steel chips. Examine the chips and particles in the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly and on the transmission oil cleaner magnets to determine what type of wear might be found in the automatic transmission assembly.

        Result
        Steel (magnetic)
Bearing, gear and clutch plate wear
        Brass (non-magnetic)
        Bushing wear
  7. REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY

    1. B0018S8

Remove the 4 bolts and valve body oil strainer assembly from the transmission valve body assembly.

      Note

Be careful as some fluid will come out of the valve body oil strainer assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the valve body oil strainer assembly.

  8. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE

    1. B00197M

Remove the 2 bolts and 2 temperature sensor clamps.

    2. Disconnect the 2 ATF temperature sensors.

    3. Remove the 2 O-rings from the 2 ATF temperature sensors.

    4. Disconnect the 9 connectors from the solenoid valves.

  9. REMOVE TRANSMISSION WIRE
