GLOW PLUG ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK GLOW PLUG ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the No. 1 glow plug connector Click here.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Item Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      w/ DPF Glow plug terminal - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 0.7 Ω or higher
      w/o DPF Approximately 1 Ω

      Note


      • Be careful not to damage the glow plug assembly, as this may cause an open circuit or shorten the life of the glow plug assemblies.

      • Do not allow oil or gasoline to contact the glow plug assembly when cleaning it.

      • Clean any oil on the terminal and bakelite washer with a dry cloth.

      • Do not apply more than 11 V to the glow plug assembly, as this may cause an open circuit.


      • If the result is not as specified, replace the glow plug assembly.
