STARTER DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the nut, and disconnect the lead wire from the terminal C.

   2. 

      Remove the 2 nuts and magnet starter switch.

2. REMOVE STARTER DRIVE HOUSING ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. 

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts.

   2. Pull out the starter yoke and the starter commutator end frame together with the starter armature.

3. REMOVE STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the starter pinion drive lever.

   2. 

      Remove the 2 screws and end frame.

      Note

      While holding down the lead wire, remove the starter commutator end frame.

4. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. 

      Using a screwdriver, hold the spring back and disconnect the brush from the starter brush holder.

   2. Disconnect the 4 brushes and remove the starter brush holder.

   3. 

      Remove the starter armature from the starter yoke.

5. REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. Remove the starter yoke from the starter center bearing clutch.

6. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE PLATE

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the starter armature plate from the starter center bearing clutch.

7. REMOVE PLANETARY GEAR

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the 3 planetary gears.
