THERMOSTAT REMOVAL

Tech Tips

If the thermostat is not installed, cooling efficiency decreases. Do not remove the thermostat as this will cause the engine to overheat easily.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL

  3. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  4. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

    Click here

  7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY

    Click here

  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY

  9. REMOVE NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE

  10. REMOVE NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE

  11. REMOVE FAN SHROUD

  12. REMOVE WATER INLET SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH THERMOSTAT

      *1 No. 3 Air Hose
      *2 No. 2 Air Hose

      w/ Secondary Air Injection System:


      1. Disconnect the No. 2 and No. 3 air hoses.

      2. Disconnect the air pump connector.

      3. Disconnect the air pump connector clamp holder.

      4. Using a clip remover, detach the wire harness clamp.

      Disconnect the No. 5 water by-pass hose.

    3. w/ Secondary Air Injection System:

      Remove the air tube bracket bolt.

      Remove the 3 nuts, water inlet with thermostat and gasket.
