ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING INSTALLATION

  • Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL NO. 1 ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING CLIP

    Note


    • It is only necessary to perform this procedure when replacing a No. 1 roof drip side finish moulding clip with a new one.

    • If installing new No. 1 roof drip side finish moulding clips, remove the adhesive remaining where the No. 1 roof drip side finish moulding clips will be installed on the vehicle body and clean the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.

    Tech Tips

    When installing a No. 1 roof drip side finish moulding clip, heat the vehicle body and clip using a heat light.

    Vehicle Body 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
    No. 1 Roof Drip Side Finish Moulding Clip 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the vehicle body or No. 1 roof drip side finish moulding clip excessively.


    1. Clean the vehicle body surface.


      1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape from the vehicle body.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

      Apply a 2 to 3 mm (0.0787 to 0.118 in.) bead of adhesive (3M DP-105 or equivalent) to new No. 1 roof drip side finish moulding clips.

      Tech Tips

      Adhesive strength (tensile strength): 13.7 MPa (140.0 kgf/cm2, 1991 psi) or more (when the temperature is 23°C (73°F))

    3. Apply primer to the body where the No. 1 roof drip side finish moulding clip will be installed.

      Note

      Do not let the primer dry.

    4. While using the position shown in the illustration as a reference, place the No. 1 roof drip side finish moulding clip onto the roof panel. Then position and install the clip after lightly pressing it so that the adhesive adheres to the primer.

      Note

      Install the center roof drip side finish moulding when 40 minutes or more have elapsed after pressing and installing the No. 1 roof drip side finish moulding clips.

      Tech Tips


      • Initial hardening time: 40 minutes

      • Complete hardening time: 48 hours

  2. INSTALL ROOF RACK BRACKET (w/o Roof Carrier)

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for all roof rack brackets.


    1. Install the roof rack bracket with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL CENTER ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING LH (w/o Roof Carrier)

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for both center roof drip side finish mouldings LH.


    1. Install the center roof drip side finish moulding LH.

    2. Remove the protective tape.

  4. INSTALL ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING JOINT COVER LH (w/o Roof Carrier)

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for all roof drip side finish moulding joint covers LH.


    1. Attach the claw and clip to install the roof drip side finish moulding joint cover LH.

    2. Remove the protective tape.

  5. INSTALL REAR ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING LH


    1. Attach the clip to install the rear roof drip side finish moulding LH.

    2. Remove the protective tape.

  6. INSTALL ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING LH

    Tech Tips

    w/o Roof Carrier:

    Use the same procedure for both roof drip side finish mouldings LH.


    1. Install the roof drip side finish moulding LH.

    2. Remove the protective tape.
