Handle components indoors as much as possible to prevent foreign matter from entering and adhering to headlight assembly components.
Do not reuse parts which have reduced fastening ability due to thread damage.
Do not touch the inner surface of the lens and metallic surfaces as much as possible, or they may become dirty
Do not allow metallic surfaces to become dirty, as such surfaces become damaged even if they are only lightly wiped with a soft cloth.
When installing components, make sure that the wire harness is not pinched or pulled.
Do not use solvent to clean components. Only clean them with a dry cloth.
Tech Tips
Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
PROCEDURE
REMOVE NO. 2 HOOD TO FRONT END PANEL SEAL
Remove the No. 2 hood to front end panel seal.
REMOVE HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
REMOVE HEADLIGHT LIGHT CONTROL ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Adaptive High Beam System)
REMOVE HEADLIGHT GASKET
REMOVE HEADLIGHT BRACKET LH
Remove the 2 screws and headlight bracket LH
REMOVE HEADLIGHT LENS LH
Note
Perform work using clean rubber gloves.
Do not touch the inner surface of the lens and metallic surfaces as much as possible, or they may become dirty.
Do not allow metallic surfaces to become dirty, as such surfaces become damaged even if they are only lightly wiped with a soft cloth.
Remove the 5 screws.
Using a T20H "TORX" driver, remove the 3 "TORX" screws.

Remove the headlight lens LH:

Tech Tips
The connection between the headlight lens LH and headlight housing is extremely tight. Therefore, make sure to use the following method of using a dryer to warm and soften the headlight lens gasket to separate the headlight lens LH and headlight housing.
With the headlight lens LH slightly lifted, cut the headlight lens gasket and separate the headlight lens LH.
Using a dryer, warm the headlight lens gasket from the backside of the headlight assembly LH at the separation starting point of the headlight lens LH and headlight housing.
Note
If the headlight assembly LH is heated unevenly, it will deform or melt.

Tech Tips
If the headlight lens LH cannot be lifted, even after heating, using a screwdriver, lift the headlight lens LH.
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
Detach the claw A and slightly lift the headlight lens LH.
Heat the headlight lens gasket starting from the backside of the headlight assembly LH and finishing at the area around claw B.
Detach the 2 claws B and slightly lift the headlight lens LH.
Heat the headlight lens gasket starting from the backside of the headlight assembly LH and finishing at the area around claw C.
Detach the 2 claws C and slightly lift the headlight lens LH.
Heat the headlight lens gasket starting from the backside of the headlight assembly LH and finishing at the area around claw D.
Detach the 2 claws D and remove the headlight lens LH.

REMOVE HEADLIGHT LENS GASKET
Note

The gasket must not be reused.
Remove the headlight lens gasket from the headlight lens and headlight housing.
Tech Tips
Using a dryer, heat the headlight lens gasket. While softening the headlight lens gasket, remove it from the headlight lens LH and headlight housing.

REMOVE NO. 1 HEADLIGHT CLEARANCE LED UNIT LH
Note
Perform work using clean rubber gloves.
Do not touch the No. 1 headlight clearance LED unit LH with bare hands.
Do not allow metallic surfaces to become dirty, as such surfaces become damaged even if they are only lightly wiped with a soft cloth.
Do not use solvent to clean components. Only clean them with a dry cloth.
Disconnect the 2 connectors.
Remove the 9 screws and No. 1 headlight clearance unit LH.
REMOVE HEADLIGHT UNIT LH
Note
Perform work using clean rubber gloves.
Do not touch the headlight unit LH with bare hands.
Do not allow metallic surfaces to become dirty, as such surfaces become damaged even if they are only lightly wiped with a soft cloth.
Do not use solvent to clean components. Only clean them with a dry cloth.
Disconnect the 4 connectors.
Remove the 2 screws.
Insert a screwdriver at the position shown in the illustration.
Tech Tips
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
Move the inserted screwdriver in the direction indicated by the white arrow and push the claw down in the direction indicated by the black arrow to detach each of the 2 claws, and then remove the headlight unit bezel.
Tech Tips
If it is difficult insert the screwdriver, loosen the horizontal and vertical aiming screw until the screwdriver can be inserted, However, make sure to count and record the number of rotations when loosening the horizontal and vertical aiming screw.

Remove the inner lens cover:
Remove the screw.
Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and remove the inner lens cover.

Remove the center lens cover:
Remove the screw.
Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and remove the inner lens cover.

Loosen the horizontal and vertical aiming screw 10 rotations.
Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and disconnect the headlight unit LH from the pivot collar.

While holding the headlight unit LH with one hand so that it does not fall over, loosen the horizontal and vertical aiming screw until the headlight unit LH is disconnected.

Count and record the number of rotations before the headlight unit LH is disconnected.
Using a clip remover, remove the pivot collar.
Tech Tips
Tape the clip remover tip before use.
Install the removed pivot collar to the headlight unit LH.

Note

Do not use solvent to clean components. Only clean them with a dry cloth.
Detach the 2 claws and remove the spherical step.
Remove the 2 screws and headlight leveling motor.
REMOVE HEADLIGHT FAN LH
Detach the connector clamp.
Disconnect the connector.
Remove the 2 screws and headlight fan LH.
